Death by Awesome is an independent film company based in the creative hotbed of Hackney in East London. It is from here they fire out bullets of imaginative film making to the rest of the world and beyond!

Here at the Death by Awesome castle we pride ourselves in having fun whilst creating. We don’t like to use the word “work” as it doesn’t seem that way to us. It is simply what we do.

From pre-production to HD filming, from equipment hire to online marketing campaigns we can offer you a service that will take your masterpiece from the shadows of infancy to its prime place in the spotlight.

So, who are ‘WE’?

Mike D’Rews

Mike is an experienced TV producer with links throughout the industry. He’s now combining his talent for producing, with direction and script writing.

He provides all the necessary skills and experience to get your production off the ground, or else to act as a consultant.

Seth Ward

Seth Ward is an up and coming Cinematographer and Writer/Director with a ‘focus’ on the visual side of filmmaking.

With a 15-year background creating online and mobile entertainment businesses, he is also a producer with a vast understanding of the business and technology side of modern audiovisual entertainment.

Joao Duarte Silva

João was born in 1985 in sunny Cascais, Portugal. He roamed from town to town, getting into adventures, solving mysteries and writing for Portuguese soap operas until in 2009, when he finally settled down in London.

At the 2009 Raindance film festival he met Seth and Michael and didn’t like them much at first, but then grew to tolerate them.

According to legend, he uttered the one line that laid the seed for the short film ‘GOING COMMANDO’: “Let’s occupy that table.”

These days João has been busy stickin’ it to the Man while writing a beautiful drama about scantily-clad women with big machine guns. He also may or may not have other super secret projects that may or may not exist.
